But since the Union Budget is scheduled for Saturday, will the stock markets remain open that day?

Sources have told CNBC-TV18 that the exchanges are in discussion to keep the markets open on Saturday, which will be the day the Union Budget would be presented.

Exchanges will like to give investors the opportunity to trade on an important day like the Union Budget and the talks are likely to take place today, sources added.

There have been earlier instances of the Union Budget being presented on Saturday. Back in 2015, the Union Budget was presented on February 28, which was a Saturday. The stock markets were open that day, despite it being a weekend.

The last instance of the Union Budget being presented on a Saturday was back in 2016-2017, when the budget was presented on February 27. The stock markets were not open that day.
