Top gainers, losers today July 3: Sensex off day’s high, Hero Motorcorp, Apollo, Maruti, M&M, ONGC lead gainers of Nifty 50
Equity benchmark indices traded with marginal gains in the mid-trading session as investors expressed a cautious tone amid the US-India trade deal and FII selling pressure.
Sensex traded 169.23 points or 0.20 per cent higher at 83,578.92 as at 1.02 pm (off the intraday high of 83,836.99), and Nifty 50 was up 47.15 pts or 0.19 per cent at 25,500.55.
Smallcap index rose 0.34 per cent, while midcap index was up 0.23 per cent. The volatility index dipped 0.76 per cent to 12.35.
Sectoral indices staged a mixed performance, PSU Bank slipping 0.62 per cent. Media index rose 1 per cent, auto and consumer durables followed with 0.99 and 0.89 per cent gain. Metal, IT and pharma traded flat.
Top gainers & losers
Shares of Hero Morocorp, Apollo Hospitals, ONGC, Mahindra & Mahindra and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories led the gainers on Nifty 50 in intraday, while SBI Life, Kotak Mahindra, Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, Adani Enterprises, JSW Steel and HDFC Life traded as major laggards.
Among the Nifty PSU bank index, PNB, Union Bank, Central Bank of India, UCO Bank and Bank of India fell 1-3 per cent. IOB and Bank of Maharashtra shares traded flat.
1,557 stocks advanced and 1,172 stocks declined of all the 2,835 stocks that were traded on the National Stock Exchange. MRF, Max Health, Divi’s Lab, Aster GM, Apollo Hospitals and NACL were among the 53 stocks that hit a 52-week high, while Ganga Forge and Jindal Worldwide featured among 38 stocks that hit 52-week low.
In addition, 78 stocks hit upper circuit and 41 hit the lower circuit.
Midcap & smallcap movers
Among the midcap stocks, Motilal Oswal Financial Services zoomed 6 per cent, Oil India, Voltas, M&M Financial and NMDC soared 2-3 per cent, while Nykaa, Bandhan Bank, Tata Communications, Tube Investments and Union Bank declined 2-4 per cent.
Aster DM, Natco Pharma, IGIL and Welspun Living gained 2-7 per cent in the smallcap basket, and KVB, Neuland, Reliance Power, Sagility and Devyani International depreciated 2-3 per cent.
Other performers today included: HDB Financial, extending gains on day two of listing, and DMart shares reacting to Q1 business update.
On the BSE, DCM Shriram, Authum Investment, Aster DM and Rategain rallied 7-9 per cent, while Gabriel, Nykaa, Raymond, VMart and IndiGo dropped 2-5 per cent.
