Top gainers & losers today 16th July 2025: Sensex, Nifty 50 swing amid earnings jitters, SBI, Nestle lead gainers, auto stocks lag


The domestic market witnessed choppy trade amid the ongoing earnings season jitters. Concerns over potential India-US trade deal added to investor caution,

Sensex inched up 51.79 pts or 0.06 per cent to 82,622.70 as at 1.28 pm, and Nifty 50 was up 10.75 pts or 0.04 per cent to 25,206.55. The indices opened flat in early trade.

Both midcap and smallcap indexes traded flat. On the domestic front, auto and metal stocks experienced profit booking after recent gains. This follows Tesla’s entry. However, select financials like HDFC Bank helped cap broader losses.

Pharma and healthcare also dipped. PSU Bank index rose close to 2 per cent and media was up over 1 per cent. IT, FMCG and realty stocks staged resilience.

Top gainers & losers today

Among the Sensex pack, State Bank of India, Nestle India, Wipro, Infosys and Adani Ports led the gainers with 1-2 per cent uptick, while Shriram Finance, Eternal, Hero Motocorp, Sun Pharma and JSW Steel lagged.

PSB, UCO Bank, IOB, ONB and Central Bank of India led the gainers of Nifty PSU Bank index. Among the auto segment, Tube Investment rose 1 per cent, Hero Motocorp, Balkrishna, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland and Maruti dropped.

Nearly 1,590 stocks advanced and 1,166 declined of all the 2,850 stocks that were traded on the National Stock Exchange at the time of writing.

Force Motors, NAM-India, HDFC AMC, Datamatics, Biocon, Deccan Cements and RBL Bank were among the 63 stocks that hit a 52-week high. 21 stocks hit a 52-week low.

Swaraj Engines soared to a 52-week high in early trade following Q1 results. In addition, shares of HDFC Life, ICICI Prudential, HDB Financial and a few others were in focus.Catch live action

SMS Lifesciences and NGL Fine-Chem featured among 78 stocks that hit the upper circuit, while Sri Adhikari Brothers and Nureca were among 45 stocks that hit the lower circuit.

Top midcap & smallcap movers

Among the midcap basket, Patanjali, Bharti Hexacom, Hindustan Petroleum, Waaree Energies and LIC Housing Finance soared 2-4 per cent, and Ola Electric, Page Industries, Mankind, Policy Bazaar and AU Small Finance declined 2 per cent.

In the smallcap segment, Aadhar Housing Finance, Swan Energy, Zensar Tech, Brigade and IDBI soared 3-5 per cent, while Neuland Lab, Amber, Aditya Birla Real Estate and RK Forge fell 2-5 per cent.

On the BSE, Network 18, Coffee Day, Waaree Renewables and Metropolic zoomed 7-15 per cent. Gabriel, Neuland Lab, JP Power, Just Dial and Page Industries declined 3-6 per cent.
