Tejas Networks secures major three-year contract with Vodafone Idea for 4G and 5G infrastructure


Tejas Networks has secured a three-year contract with Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) to supply critical network infrastructure products for the telecom operator’s 4G and 5G rollout strategies, the company announced today.

The shares of Tejas Networks Limited were trading at ₹1,331.95 down by ₹5.20 or 0.39 per cent on the NSE today at 10.25 am whereas shares of Vodafone Idea Limited were trading flat at ₹8.09.

The contract involves supplying TJ1400 and TJ1600 packet and optical transmission products to enhance VIL’s backhaul network capacity across multiple telecom circles in India. Jagbir Singh, Vodafone Idea’s CTO, emphasised the importance of upgrading their network to be scalable and robust, capable of managing anticipated growth in data traffic.

Anand Athreya, CEO and Managing Director of Tejas Networks, highlighted the contract as a testament to their ability to design flexible products that meet evolving communication service provider needs while reducing cost and energy consumption per bit.

Tejas Networks, a Tata Group company, specialises in designing and manufacturing high-performance networking products for telecommunications service providers globally. Vodafone Idea, a partnership between Aditya Birla Group and Vodafone Group, holds a spectrum of 17 circles for mid-band 5G and 16 circles for mmWave 5G.

The contract underscores the ongoing digital infrastructure development in India’s telecom sector.
