Allied Blenders and Distillers Ltd (ABD), the country’s third largest spirits company, has completed the acquisition of the brands and Intellectual Property Rights from Fullarton Distilleries, which will augment its foothold in the super-premium segment. The acquisition includes a portfolio of brands such as Woodburns Contemporary Indian Whisky, Pumori Small Batch Gin, and Segredo Aldeia Rum, said a joint statement.
Sun Pharmaceuticals has elevated Aalok Shanghvi as Chief Operating Officer. He is currently designated as Whole-time Director and Executive Vice-President, Emerging Markets, Global Generic R&D, Global Business Development (Generics), Operations and API. Shanghvi, son of Sun Pharma MD Dilip Shanghvi, joined Sun Pharma in 2006 and has handled various roles in marketing, R&D, project management, purchase and communications, the Mumbai-based drug major said in a regulatory filing.
JTL Industries has set up a new facility for manufacturing lattice towers to tap opportunities in sectors like telecom, building materials and railways. The greenfield project will come up over an area of 12 acres in Punjab having a production capacity of 1,500 tonnes per month, the company said in a statement. JTL Industries did not disclose the financial details of the project.
Solex Energy has commissioned a new 800 MW production line to manufacture the TOPcon rectangular cell-based modules. The production line has been set up as part of the company’s ‘Vision 2030’ plan, under which Solex aims to increase its capacity to 15 gigawatt (GW) with an investment of ₹8,000 crore, from 1.5 GW at present, a company statement said. The new line will produce advanced 800 MW N-Type TOPcon rectangular cell-based modules, the statement said.
Cipla Ltd on Monday said it will invest about ZAR 900 million (nearly ₹415 crore) in equity share capital of its South African arm Cipla Medpro South Africa Proprietary Ltd. Cipla Medpro South Africa Proprietary Ltd (CMSA), is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cipla, and is the holding firm for the group operations in South Africa. The group is involved in the manufacturing, marketing, and supply of pharmaceutical products. “The investment will be utilised to reduce inter-group debt and improve the capital structure of CMSA and its subsidiaries,” Cipla said in a regulatory filing.
Premier Energies has said it will put its plan on hold to build a 1 gigawatt (GW) solar cell manufacturing facility in the US, after newly-elected President Trump ordered a pause on Biden-era green policies. Premier and North American solar module maker Heliene had announced a joint venture in July 2024 to build a US-based solar cell manufacturing facility to capitalize on the incentives and tax credits for domestic clean energy manufacturing under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). In January, President Trump ordered a halt to spending related to climate and infrastructure laws from the previous administration, paused tax credits for clean industries, and suspended new offshore wind power leasing, while simultaneously unveiling a plan to maximise US oil and gas production and withdraw from the Paris climate agreement, according to a Reuters report.
