Stock Market Highlights: Sensex, Nifty 50 ends little changed following a rangebound session, financials underperform
Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: The Sensex added 16 points to close at 81,526, while the Nifty rose 32 points to settle at 24,642. The broader market saw some action, with the midcap index rising 158 points to 59,293, but the Nifty Bank underperformed, shedding 186 points to close at 53,391.
Financials, however, weighed on the indices, with Nifty Bank dragging on account of underperformance by major constituents. Among the top gainers on the Nifty, Shriram Finance and Bajaj Finance rose up to 3%. Railway stocks staged a recovery, with IRFC, IRCON, RailTel, and RVNL gaining up to 5%. Greaves Cotton extended its rally, erasing intraday losses to end nearly 6% higher.
Swiggy closed with a 4% cut as its lock-in period ended, while Delta Corp surged 6%. PNC Infra jumped 15% after securing a ₹738 crore HAM project, and Awfis ended 10% higher following the sale of 12% equity in block deals. Aurionpro Solutions saw an 8% rise after bagging an order in Saudi Arabia, while Avenue Supermarts fell 3% after Goldman Sachs reduced its target price on the stock.
