Four new helicopters made by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for Pawan Hans would be deployed at ONGC’s offshore operations. “The contract, valuing over ₹2,141 crores, has been awarded for a period of 10 years,” Pawan Hans Ltd said.

The state-owned ONGC owns 49% stake in Pawan Hans, the remaining is held by the government of India.

The indigenously built Dhruv NG is the civil variant of the Advance Light Helicopter, ALH Mk III, which is used by the Indian defence forces. With over 335 helicopters operational as on date, these machines have logged over 3,75,000 cumulative flight hours, the company said.

Pawan Hans currently has a fleet of 46 helicopters, which are used for oil and gas exploration, policing and para-military services, as well as in connecting remote and hilly areas with the metro, tier-two and tier-three cities, among others.
