NSE/BSE Top Gainers & Top Losers Today 1 Feb 2025: Zomato, Maruti, ITC Hotels, M&M Lead; Power Grid, L&T Decline
Share prices of Zomato Ltd., Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., Indian Hotels Company Ltd. (ITC Hotels), ITC Ltd., and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. emerged as the top gainers on Saturday.
Among the laggards were shares of HCL Technologies Ltd., UltraTech Cement Ltd., NTPC Ltd., Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (L&T), and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.
The BSE Sensex ended marginally lower amid volatile trading during the Budget session. The BSE Sensex closed at 77,505.96, while the NSE Nifty settled at 23,482.15.
Top Gainers
Zomato led the advances, surging 7.17 per cent to ₹236.15, reflecting positive sentiment in consumption stocks. Maruti Suzuki shares showed strong momentum, rising 4.98 per cent to ₹12,921.20.
ITC Hotels gained 4.71 per cent to close at ₹172.40, while ITC added 3.33 per cent to finish at ₹462.45. Mahindra & Mahindra completed the top five with a 2.96 per cent gain, ending at ₹3,080.15.
Top Losers
Power Grid was the biggest loser, dropping 3.71 per cent to ₹290.65. L&T declined 3.36 per cent to ₹3,447.30.
NTPC fell 2.04 per cent to ₹317.65, while UltraTech Cement slipped 2.03 per cent to ₹11,269.85. HCL Technologies closed 1.87 per cent lower at ₹1,693.00.
The day’s gains were primarily driven by auto and FMCG stocks following the Union Budget 2025-26 announcement of income tax relief under the new regime, with tax exemption up to Rs 12 lakh per annum expected to boost consumption across these sectors.
