NSE, BSE Top gainers & losers today May 22: Sensex tumbles 980 pts, Tata Steel, IndusInd, BEL, Jio shares trade with marginal gains, IndiGo, NTPC Green, Colgate, Va Tech shares react to Q4 numbers
Shares of Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel, Jio Financial Services, IndusInd and Bharat Electronics only traded in the positive territory with marginal gains among Nifty 50 components.
On the flip side, M&M, Power Grid, Tech Mahindra, Wipro and ITC traded among major laggards.
Equity benchmark indices fell sharp due to rising concerns over debt and deficit levels in the US Market experts stated that pressure in bond markets worldwide also impacted investors’ sentiment.
Sensex tumbled 987.38 pts or 1.21 per cent to 80,609.25 as at 12.57 pm, and Nifty 50 slumped 299.20 pts or 1.21 per cent to 24,514.25.
All sectoral indices except media traded in the negative territory. FMCG, IT, auto and pharma sectors experienced a significant decline by 1-2 per cent. Midcap stocks dropped marginally, while smallcap slipped. Volatility index inched up 0.82 per cent to 17.69.
Nearly 1,128 stocks advanced and 1,535 declined among the 2,748 stocks that were traded on the National Stock Exchange.
HDFC AMC, HDFC Life and BEL shares were among the 39 stocks that hit the 52-week high. About 14 stocks hit 52-week low. 59 stocks hit upper circuit and 39 hit the lower circuit.
GRSE, Aster DM, ITI, HSCL shares traded 2-6 per cent higher among smallcap. Among midcap, NTPC Green, Astral, Solar Industries, Cochin Shipyard and National Aluminium soared 3-5 per cent.
On the BSE, TTML, Prince Pipa, Va Tech, Fortis and SCI shares rallied 7-13 per cent. On the flip side, Aditya Birla Fashion. GMM Pfaudler, HGI Infra and Colgate tumbled 5-7 per cent.
IndusInd shares traded flat (₹770.15) at the time of writing, after soaring from day’s low of ₹725.80, post Q4 results. IndiGo, NTPC Green and Va Tech shares also continued gaining momentum. RVNL shares declined 1.57 per cent to ₹405.60 following Q4 show. ITC, Emcure Pharmaceuticals, Sun Pharma, Ramco Cements, Honasa, Strides Pharma shares will be in focus on account of Q4 results expected today. Track live updates
