NHPC commissions part of 300 MW Rajasthan solar project – CNBC TV18
NHPC Ltd, India’s state-run hydropower giant, has commenced commercial operations of 107.14 megawatts (MW) at its 300 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Karnisar, Bikaner, Rajasthan.
The partial commissioning, effective from April 12, 2025, comes after successful trial runs conducted on April 10.
This marks a notable step in NHPC’s transition towards a more diversified renewable energy portfolio, as it looks to supplement its core hydropower operations with solar capacity. The company informed stock exchanges that it will announce commercial operation dates for the remaining capacity in due course.
The Rajasthan solar project is expected to support India’s broader renewable energy ambitions while aiding local economic development in the Bikaner region. The project aligns with the government’s clean energy targets and aims to help reduce the country’s carbon emissions.
