Maharashtra inks ₹1,000-crore defence manufacturing deal with Tembo 


Tembo Defence Products Private Ltd, a subsidiary of Tembo Global Industries Ltd, has signed a ₹1,000-crore investment agreement with the Maharashtra government to boost defence manufacturing in the State. The deal, announced on Wednesday, is expected to create 300 new jobs in the region.

The shares of Tembo Global Industries Limited were trading at ₹718, up 2.62 per cent on the NSE at 3.15 p.m.

The agreement was finalised in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, and Tembo Global Industries Director, Shabbir Merchant. Additionally, Tembo Defence Products has received an invitation to present its defence technologies at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Enhancing capabilities

Sanjay J. Patel, Managing Director, Tembo Global Industries, emphasised the deal’s significance for enhancing defence manufacturing capabilities and regional employment. The parent company, established in 2010, specialises in metal components for pipe support systems and recently expanded into defence product manufacturing in 2024.

Tembo Global Industries, which holds a 2-star Export House status, has diversified its portfolio in recent years, entering the EPC contracting sector in 2023 and the solar power industry in 2024. The company’s products are certified by Underwriter’s Laboratory Inc (the US) and FM Approval (the US) for Fire Sprinkler System Installations.
