IHCL acquires majority stake in tree of Life Hotels for ₹17.66 crore
The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has completed the acquisition of a 55% stake in Rajscape Hotels Private Limited, which operates the Tree of Life Resorts & Hotels brand, for ₹17.66 crore. The transaction, announced on January 13, 2025, involves the purchase of 7,989 equity shares at ₹22,100 per share.
The shares of Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) were trading at ₹766.15 up by ₹10.05 or 1.33 per cent on the NSE today at 11.33 am.
Tree of Life Resorts & Hotels manages 16 boutique properties across India, specializing in experiential stays at offbeat destinations. The brand focuses on properties that offer immersive experiences highlighting local culture and nature in tranquil settings.
The acquisition gives IHCL access to an additional brand and opportunities for asset-light growth in the boutique and experiential stays segment. Rajscape Hotels reported a turnover of ₹23.44 crore for the financial year 2024, showing steady growth from ₹12.41 crore in FY2022.
The deal, which does not fall under related party transactions, has made Rajscape Hotels a subsidiary of IHCL. The Delhi-based hospitality company, incorporated in July 2005, recorded a loss of ₹1.05 crore in FY2024. The transaction required no governmental or regulatory approvals and was completed through cash consideration.
