HPCL subsidiary commissions 5 MMTPA LNG terminal in Gujarat
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, HPCL LNG Limited, has successfully commissioned its new LNG regasification terminal at Chhara, Gujarat. The terminal received its first LNG cargo via the vessel Maran Gas Coronis on January 6, with cargo discharge completed on January 12, 2025.
The shares of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) were trading at ₹364.30, down by ₹24.15 or 6.22 per cent on the NSE today at 3.05 pm.
The facility, built with an investment of ₹4,750 crores, has a capacity of 5 MMTPA (million metric tonnes per annum). Located in the Gir-Somnath District, the terminal is equipped with facilities for LNG receipt through ocean tankers, marine unloading, storage, LNG road tanker loading, regasification, and supply of regasified LNG to the gas grid.
HPCL LNG Limited will operate the terminal on a tolling model and has opened it to third-party users through long-term capacity booking contracts and spot cargo agreements via Master regasification agreement. The terminal is set to begin commercial operations shortly, following HPCL’s delivery of its first cargo.
