BEML bags contract worth ₹136 crore to supply high mobility vehicles – CNBC TV18



State-run BEML Ltd. on Wednsday, December 11, said it has secured a contract worth ₹136 crore from the defence ministry to supply high mobility vehicles (HMV) 8×8.

The vehicles will play a key role in the Battle Field Surveillance System (BFSS). Its key features include an independent suspension system, central tyre inflation, high power air-cooled engine, an anti-lock braking system, and a backbone tube chassis design. The vehicles are capable of operating in extreme temperatures, from -20°C to 55°C, and at altitudes of up to 5,000 metre above sea level.

The vehicles enable seamless integration of diverse superstructures without special modifications, the company said. “This innovation reduces costs and ensures high commonality across BEML’s military vehicle range, which includes configurations from 4X4 to 12×12,” the company said.

Shantanu Roy, the CMD of the BEML, said the contract is a testament to the company’s commitment to innovation and self-reliance in defence manufacturing.

BEML secured another contract from the defence ministry on Tuesday, December 10, worth ₹83.51 crore to supply 50-ton trailer, which will be designed for the transportation of battle tanks.

BEML shares were trading 2.21% higher at ₹4,459.35 apiece at 10.45 am on Wednesday, December 11. The stock has gained 56.97% this year, so far.
