Ashok Leyland bonus shares begin trading, stock declines 0.89% 


Ashok Leyland Limited’s bonus shares commenced trading on Friday, July 18, 2025, with the stock declining 0.89 per cent to ₹122.65 from the previous close of ₹123.75. The commercial vehicle manufacturer had allotted 29.37 crore bonus equity shares in a 1:1 ratio on July 17, 2025.

The bonus shares were allotted to eligible shareholders whose names appeared in the company’s register as of the record date of July 16, 2025. Each existing shareholder received one additional share for every share held, effectively doubling their shareholding while maintaining the same proportional ownership.

Trading activity remained robust with 18 lakh shares worth ₹22.20 crore changing hands by 10:52 AM. The stock opened at ₹123.70 and touched a high of ₹124.45 before declining to the current levels. Buy orders stood at 11.28 lakh shares against sell orders of 14.09 lakh shares, indicating selling pressure.

The newly allotted bonus shares rank pari passu with existing equity shares in all respects. Ashok Leyland’s total market capitalization now stands at ₹72,033 crore, with a free float market cap of ₹34,992 crore. The company had previously intimated about the bonus issue through multiple announcements since May 23, 2025.

The stock has seen significant volatility over the past year, trading between a 52-week high of ₹132.33 and a low of ₹95.93.
