Airtel shares surge 5% on robust Q3 performance, ARPU growth
Bharti Airtel’s shares jumped 5.11 per cent to ₹1,702.45 on the NSE today at 10:20 am, following the telecom giant’s strong third-quarter results announced yesterday. The company reported a 121.3 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y) increase in consolidated net income (before exceptional items) to ₹5,514 crore for Q3 FY25.
The telco’s consolidated revenue rose 19.1 per cent y-o-y to ₹45,129 crore, driven by strong performance in India and sustained growth in Africa. India business revenue grew 24.6 per cent y-o-y to ₹34,654 crore, with mobile services revenue increasing 21.4 per cent.
Key operational metrics showed significant improvement, with mobile Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) rising to ₹245 from ₹208 in Q3 FY24. The company added 6.5 million smartphone users during the quarter, with smartphone customers now comprising 75.8 per cent of its mobile base.
The homes business maintained growth momentum with revenue up 18.7 per cent y-o-y, adding 674,000 new customers. Airtel Business revenue grew 8.7 per cent YoY despite headwinds in the global segment.
The company’s consolidated EBITDA margin stood at 55.1 per cent, while net debt to EBITDAaL ratio improved to 1.56 times on a reported basis. During the quarter, Airtel prepaid ₹3,626 crore of spectrum dues to reduce high-cost debt.
