Airtel claims largest network deployment in Kerala

Bharti Airtel has established itself as Kerala’s leading telecom operator with over 11,000 network sites across the state, the company announced today. The telecom giant deployed approximately 2,500 additional sites over the past two years, outpacing competitors in network coverage.

The shares of Bharti Airtel Limited ended today at ₹1,704, down by ₹66.85 or 4.08 per cent on the NSE.

According to Gokul J, COO for Kerala, the company has invested in network densification across all 14 districts to deliver improved service throughout the state. The expansion covers both rural and urban areas, including major districts like Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, and Kozhikode.

An Opensignal report cited in the announcement confirms Airtel’s dominance in several performance categories, including video experience, live video streaming, gaming experience, and upload speeds on its 5G network.

The company has extended its 5G coverage to popular tourist destinations, including Kochi’s water metro stations, Varkala’s beaches, and the hill station of Munnar.

Airtel, which claims over 550 million customers across 15 countries, operates as India’s largest integrated communications solutions provider, and Africa’s second-largest mobile operator.
