Top gainers & losers intraday: Shriram Finance, Tata Steel lead gains, IT stocks drag

Shares of Shriram Finance, HDFC Life, Tata Steel, Power Grid and Apollo Hospitals led the gainers of Nifty 50 components.

Tech Mahindra, TCS, Infosys. HCL Tech and ITC emerged as major laggards.

The broader index fluctuated as the IT stocks dragged due to global. Sensex traded marginally higher by 107.08 pts or 0.14 per cent at 75,408.34 as at 1.11 pm, and Nifty 50 rose 50.75 pts or 0.22 per cent to 22,885.05.

Top gainers & losers

Shriram Finance stock led the gainers with a 4.59 per cent increase to ₹671.75. HDFC Life followed with a 2.92 per cent gain to ₹659.25.

Tata Steel surged 2.34 per cent to ₹158.25. A majority of Nifty metal index gained on Wednesday after the government recommended a safeguard duty of 12 per cent on some steel imports for 200 days to curb imports. Know more

Power Grid followed with a 2.33 per cent gain to trade at ₹277.1. Apollo Hospitals rose 2.21 per cent to ₹6,385.05.

On the losing side, Tech Mahindra fell 2.23 per cent ti ₹1,398.8, TCS declined 2.20 per cent to ₹3,474.45.

Two other IT majors Infosys and HCL Technologies followed with a decline of 2 per cent.

ITC shares traded at ₹403.6, lower by 1.34 per cent.

Of the 2,918 stocks that were traded on the NSE, 2,339 of them advanced while only 510 declined. Shares of GRSE, Cochin Shipyard, Sagility, KPI Green were among the major stocks that hit the upper circuit today.

Among the Sensex pack, GRSE, Tanla and Ideaforge rallied 20-15 per cent. Mastek, Phoenix Mills, Avanti Feeds and Sarda Energy dropped over 3 per cent.
