Datamatics bags AFC contract for Pune’s third metro line
Datamatics Global Services Limited has secured a contract to implement an Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system for 23 stations on Pune Metro Line 3, the company announced today. The project covers the Hinjewadi to Civil Court (Shivaji Nagar) route, spanning approximately 23 kilometers of elevated track.
The shares of Datamatics Global Services Limited were trading at ₹680.80, up by ₹57.25 or 9.18 per cent on the NSE today at 2.40 pm.
The technology company will design, supply, install, test, commission, and integrate the AFC system, which will be compatible with the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) standard. The system will support EMV open-loop contactless cards and QR-based ticketing options.
Pune Metro Line 3 is being developed as a public-private partnership between the Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA) and a joint venture of TRIL Urban Transport Private Limited and Siemens Project Ventures GmbH. The project will operate on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate & Transfer (DBFOT) basis for 35 years.
Rahul Kanodia, Vice Chairman and CEO of Datamatics, noted that the company is the only Indian firm with a robust AFC solution. The company has previously implemented AFC systems in several Indian metro projects, including Lucknow, Mumbai, Kolkata, and the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor. Globally, Datamatics has executed over 25 similar projects in cities like London, Hong Kong, Dubai, and Melbourne over the past 25 years.
