NSE/BSE, Top Gainers & Top Losers Today 28 Jan 2025: Bajaj Finance, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC Bank, Tata Motors, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), NTPC, Power Grid Corporation of India, ITC.
Share prices of Bajaj Finance, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC Bank and Tata Motors emerged as the top gainers on Tuesday.
Among the laggards were shares of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), NTPC, Power Grid Corporation of India and ITC.
The BSE Sensex staged a strong recovery amid positive sentiment in banking stocks. The BSE Sensex ended 0.71 per cent or 535.24 points higher at 75,901.41, while the NSE Nifty gained 0.56 per cent or 128.10 points to close at 22,957.25.
Top gainers
Bajaj Finance led the advances, surging 4.39 per cent to ₹7,613.20, boosted by the RBI’s liquidity injection announcement. Axis Bank shares showed strong momentum, rising 3.82 per cent to ₹984.10.
Bajaj Finserv gained 3.28 per cent to close at ₹1,767.90, while HDFC Bank added 2.51 per cent to finish at ₹1,670.55. Tata Motors completed the top five with a 2.15 per cent gain, ending at ₹728.45.
Top losers
Sun Pharma was the biggest loser, dropping 4.47 per cent to ₹1,705.90 amid profit booking. L&T declined 1.32 per cent to ₹3,414.35.
NTPC fell 1.27 per cent to ₹317.95, while Power Grid slipped 1.11 per cent to ₹283.85. ITC closed 1.08 per cent lower at ₹435.25.
The day’s gains were primarily driven by banking and financial stocks following the RBI’s announcement of open market operations to inject liquidity. The Bank Nifty index emerged as a standout performer with a 1.67 per cent gain, while the Nifty Financial Services index advanced 1.89 per cent.
